Jankel Adler

Jankel Adler was a prominent Polish-Jewish painter who made significant contributions to the avant-garde movement. His artistic journey began as an engraver in Belgrade, after which he pursued further artistic training in Germany. This exposure to various artistic environments and influences would later shape his unique style. Adler's involvement in the founding of the Yung-yidish group in Łódź marked an important milestone in his career, as it reflected his connection to his cultural heritage.

Adler's artistic network expanded as he became associated with the Cologne Progressives and the Union of Progressive International Artists in Germany. His teaching position at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf not only showcased his expertise but also allowed him to share his knowledge with others. A pivotal figure in his development as an artist was Paul Klee, a Swiss abstract painter who had a profound impact on Adler's work.
