Elisabeth Kohn
German-Jewish lawyer
Elisabeth Kohn was a lawyer of German-Jewish descent who practiced law in her native Germany. Beyond her professional pursuits, Kohn was actively engaged in various social and political organizations, reflecting her commitment to social justice and human rights. Her affiliations included the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), the German League for Human Rights, and the General German Trade Union Confederation, as well as the SPD Munich Post, indicating a broad range of interests in politics, labor rights, and pacifism.
Kohn's life was tragically cut short during the Second World War. In November 1941, she, along with her mother and sister Luise, was deported from Germany. This deportation proved to be a fatal journey, as all three were murdered just five days later in German-occupied Lithuania. The circumstances of their deaths were part of the larger atrocities committed during the Holocaust, a period marked by the systematic persecution and murder of Jews and other groups by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.
