Pinchas Goldschmidt

Pinchas Goldschmidt is a prominent figure in the Jewish community, serving as a rabbi, religious scholar, and leader. Born in Switzerland, he has had a distinguished career in Russia, where he held the position of Chief Rabbi of Moscow from 1993 to 2022. During his tenure, he was based at the Moscow Choral Synagogue, a significant institution in the city's Jewish community.
In addition to his role as Chief Rabbi, Goldschmidt has also founded and headed the Moscow Rabbinical Court of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) since 1989. His influence extends beyond Russia, as he has been the president of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER) since 2011. The CER is a notable organization that brings together over 700 communal rabbis from across Europe, including locations as diverse as Dublin, Ireland, and Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East. Through his various roles, Goldschmidt has played a significant part in shaping the Jewish community in Europe and beyond.
